Steve and I generally take a lot of time to hammer out our plans before a cruise. We like to know exactly what we’re getting into, whether it’s the excursions or how we plan to spend our days on the ship. On our most recent trip on the Disney Treasure—which is one of Disney’s newest ships—we found ourselves in a bit of a new phase of life.
Ten years ago, when we were cruising with the kids, the “Adults Only” section of a Disney ship felt like a distant, mystical land. We’d catch a glimpse of the quiet pool while sprinting to a character meet-and-greet or a deck party, thinking, “Someday, we’ll spend more than five minutes there.”
Well, “someday” has arrived. But as we stepped onto the brand-new Disney Treasure for a Western Caribbean escape, we realized something hilarious: all those families we cruised with a decade ago? They had the exact same idea.
Even with more adults on board, there were several “Adult” spots on the Treasure that really stood out for us:
5 Things to do on the Treasure Once the Kids are Grown
1. The Palo Brunch Strategy: Skip the ultra-pricey upcharge restaurants and head straight to Palo. It’s at the top of the ship with wall-to-wall windows. For the price, it’s the best value on the ship and a must-do for a quiet, high-end meal.
2. Daytime at The Rose Bar: Grab your favorite beverage, find a chair by the windows, and enjoy the silence. While everyone else is at the pool, this is the best spot for journaling and a great view of the ocean.
3. The Adult Infinity Pool: Take advantage of the aft (back) of the ship. It’s the perfect place to soak in the views without the splash-zone chaos of the main decks. We had this place almost to ourselves when we headed back early from our day at Castaway Cay.
4. The “Coco” Dinner Show: Even without kids, don’t skip this one! The show is fun, but the food is actually some of the best rotational dining we’ve had.
5. Disney Excursions only: Don’t risk the “DIY” stress. Stick with the Disney-vetted tours for the peace of mind—it’s worth every penny to know the ship won’t leave without you.
